Anja was born and raised in Austria, where she discovered her love for competitive sports and physical activity at a very young age. She started training on a gymnastics team at the tender age of 5, and she successfully trained with her team until she graduated from High School.
At the age of 16, she started teaching group fitness classes at the biggest gym in her hometown, which deepened her interest in exercise, nutrition and a healthy lifestyle.
After having spent a year in the Bay Area (California) right after High School, she returned to Austria to study Media & Communications at the University of Vienna, and she spent one student exchange year in Amsterdam. When her studies were done, she moved to Los Angeles, CA in October of 2004. The fitness world was extremely appealing to her in this big city, and besides teaching group fitness classes at Gold’s Gym, she also held boot camps and took on personal training clients. She studied Yoga intensively and she also trained at a boxing gym in order to create the most well-rounded and effective workouts for her clients.
Anja moved to New York in January 2011, where she first worked at Crunch as an “Elite Personal Trainer”. During this time, she also trained and prepared for NPC Bodybuilding competitions (bikini class).
In 2013, she made her personal training business completely private and she has been training clients in various private boutique training facilities all over NYC since.
After giving birth to her first daughter in 2014, Anja deepened her knowledge in Prenatal & Postpartum Training (even though she had already been certified for both prior to having children herself). She developed a unique baby wearing workout with one of her colleagues that created a lot of buzz (features in NY Times’ Women In The World, Cosmo Body, collaborations with Aaptiv, Bugaoo and Babybjorn). In 2017, her second daughter was born and inspired by her own postpartum healing, she started postpartum fitness/pelvic floor strength intensives and workshops for local moms, which were met with great enthusiasm.
Anja is now back to training clients of all walks of life with different goals in mind and still specializes in nutrition and Prenatall/Postpartum Training.
